Enigmatical.- Know ART

I've been waiting for this EP for a few months and it's finally here! The latest release from Know ART, "Enigmatical." is a chill alternative/lo-fi project. It still has that recognizable Know ART sound (if you've heard it before), but this project is much more suitable for a relaxing type of mood, than some of those released in the past. Personally, I like that.

The EP starts off with an intro called Lost My Mind and I love the effects in this one. It adds some extra flair to the beat. It's hard to describe, but I imagine this is what liquid would sound like (try to visualize it). It is a really nice beat that has me bopping my head.

Fly Home is another chill track that is good for just kicking back and getting lost in the music. However, the next song, Beam Me Up, starts off with a little sample from the movie Alice In Wonderland and has a thicker sounding hip-hop style.

Enigmatical. which is the song the album is named after, helps decelerate the EP from the slightly heavier tone of the previous track and brings it back to that mellow vibe from before. The vocals and the softer beat give it a nice soothing tone. The sensation I get from this is kind of mysterious in a way.

Vis A Vi has a bit of an upbeat tempo while still providing that lo-fi beat feeling. I get somewhat of a funky impression from the way the vocals sound on this one, which works well with the beat and gives it a distinct quality.

Love. Hate. is much different than the songs we've heard so far and is more of a slow jam. The beat is pretty stable and simple for the most part, but still enjoyable just the same. Can I? keeps up with the easy-going theme of the album, but with this song, I sense a slight tribal sound to it, which I feel is a nice touch.

In Don't Kill My Vibe, I can hear a little funky r&b influence in the beat. I like the simplicity in this song and the heavy high-hat/snare action going on. Then, On the Run transitions into a jazzy chill-hop rhythm; this one is my favorite track on the album. It gives me a slight oldies feel, like how old radio would sound, and it’s a little bit quirky. I very much enjoy it.

Alas, the album comes to an end with the last track, Worth the Risk, and this one is also a bit different than what I'm used to hearing from Know ART. Though, it is an excellent choice for the final song. It sounds to me like a mixture of r&b and lo-fi sounds, and creates a concoction which results in one refreshing tune. I love the combination of the two different vocals in this as well, which also makes it a diverse piece in comparison to the rest of the album.

Overall, I really appreciate this album and definitely perceive it to have a nice lo-fi chill vibe with little hints of other genres, such as jazz and r&b. In my opinion, this EP is a perfect choice to unwind with.
