When this song started playing, I felt like it was something straight out of an 80s movie soundtrack. Except it's not. It's a recently released track called Well Wasted by New York band Plastic Picnic.
Although it definitely has kind of an 80s feel to it, it also has a more modern indie rock sound. When you hear it, it will transport you to a time where you were (or maybe still are) trying to figure life out and when you focused more on the present instead of planning your future, living a little recklessly, and things you maybe could have done differently. Kind of like looking back on your youth and reflecting on how it might have been wasted in some ways, but in that moment seemed really great.
This is depicted in the lyrics such as, "All the choices laid out for you, no decision follow through. All the time well wasted youth, All the time well wasted youth. All the time."
I really like the nostalgic sound portrayed in this song. Although it's the usual style of the band, I feel it fits perfectly with the theme of this song in particular. This evocative beat will definitely have you dancing. The vocals are also perfect for this style and everything in this track works together so well.
